ICD-9 Codes Linked to ICD-10 Codes

Does the ICD-10 code change sound intimidating? Prime Clinical is making it easier. Our upcoming software release will include an <ICD10 Effective Date> field on the Utility --►Set Up --►Parameter screen where you can enter the date you want to start using ICD-10 codes instead of ICD-9 codes. After the entered date, if a user types in an ICD-9 code while posting charges, Intellect will display a window with a list of related ICD-10 codes and descriptions from which to choose. Simply click on the appropriate ICD-10 code, and click on [Select].

For example, suppose ICD-9 code 285.0 is entered in the <Diagnosis Code> field after the date in the <ICD10 Effective Date> field. A selection box displays with multiple related ICD-10 codes that are linked to ICD-9 code 285.0:

At this point, the user can click on the appropriate ICD-10 code, and then click on [Select].

Please note the following:

If there is an ongoing Diagnosis, and the user selects an appropriate ICD-10, Intellect replaces subsequent entries of that ICD-9 diagnosis code with the selected ICD-10 code for this charge entry.

If the correct ICD-10 code does not display, it may be added using Utility --►Diagnosis --►Crosswalk --►Add.

If no ICD-10 codes have been linked to the ICD-9 codes, a selection box will not display. For more information on linking ICD-10 codes to ICD09 codes, see Utility --►Diagnosis --►Crosswalk in the online documentation.
